Year 13 International Baccalaureate Diploma students at Braintree Sixth Form are celebrating an excellent set of results, with an average point score of 30 exceeding international averages.
Top performer Kirsty Reynolds achieved an impressive 36 points and gained a place at Royal Holloway to study Psychology. With IB results coming out 6 weeks before A level results, IB students are definitely ahead of the university placement game. Italian national Francesca Perin with her Diploma secured, is now planning to apply to the prestigious University of Groningen in the Netherlands, which offers many of its courses in English.
Year 12 IB students meanwhile are enjoying their residential in the sunshine of Cevennes, Southern France where they are undertaking projects as part of their Science coursework, helping with local community projects and taking time out to do some white water rafting.
BSF gained accreditation as an IB World School in 2008 and we have increasingly seen how the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme really benefits our students. The IB was developed over 48 years ago as a worldwide qualification which offers a broad base of academic courses, with consistent standards and structure, alongside the opportunity to develop wider personal skills and competencies. It is run by the IBO (International Baccalaureate Organisation) with headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, Maryland, USA and The Hague, Netherlands. See the IB website: www.ibo.org. There are over 3,500 schools and colleges in 144 countries accredited to run IB programmes. For further information or details about enrolling on the IB Diploma in Year 12 contact [email protected].
