A non-uniform day was held on Friday at Notley High School & Braintree Sixth Form to support the national anti-racism campaign, Show Racism the Red Card. Students and staff were encouraged to wear red and donate £1 to the charity, which helps fund anti-racism education for young people across the UK.
Show Racism the Red Card is the UKs largest anti-racism educational charity. It was established in 1996 thanks in part to a donation by footballer Shaka Hislop. Now retired, Mr Hislop was a goalkeeper for Newcastle, Reading, West Ham and also represented his country, Trinidad and Tobago. Today, the charity maintains close ties with professional football clubs and players to promote their work.
£804.71 was raised in total.
