On Wednesday 12 March Braintree Sixth Form’s Year 13 Economists attended a student conference in London.
The speakers included George Buckley, Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank, Colin Ellis, Chief Economist of Moody’s and Carl Emmerson from the Institute of Fiscal Studies. Students enjoyed hearing a variety of views on topics ranging from the impact of the EU on the UK economy to how the UK can raise its productivity, reduce inequalities, improve its external trade position and improve its public finances. Braintree Sixth Form students also stood out as they rose to the challenge of explaining various economic models, leading to senior examiner Jim Lawrence to note that “the students really knew their stuff!”. The students were a credit to the Sixth Form and the conference brought many key issues to life which can only benefit their examination performance
