There was plenty to celebrate at Braintree Sixth Form today with a pleasing set of exam results. Many congratulations to our highest achieving students, who were Rebecca R with 3A*s in Business Studies, Economics and Media Studies and a B in English, who holds an offer from Kings College, London to study Business Management; Grace G who achieved 2 starred Distinctions in Business Studies and Health and Social Care and 2 As in Sociology and the EPQ and is going on to study Paramedic Science at ARU; and Nicky W who gained an A* in Mathematics, 2 A grades in Computer Science and Further Mathematics and a B in Physics and will read Economics at the London School of Economics.

Another outstanding performance came from Alisa K who joined us from Ukraine last summer and achieved an amazing A* in Mathematics and 2 As in Further Mathematics and Spanish; she is going on the study Data Science at the London School of Economics. Her achievement in Spanish is all the more remarkable, as her learning of Spanish only started during the pandemic lockdown, when Alisa took the opportunity to begin learning Spanish by herself, via the online platform Duolingo.

Other excellent performance include:

  • Dominic A*AB
  • Ava AABA
  • Ellise AAA
  • Alexander AABB
  • Shuhan AAC
  • Seren AAB
  • Ellie A*BB

Very many of our students have accepted university places and are heading off to universities across the country including the Universities of Liverpool, Sussex, Reading, Loughborough and Kent. We also have a number of students who have accepted degree apprenticeships with Jaguar Land Rover, Tamdown and the ambulance service.

Headteacher, Miss Ryan said, “I am enormously proud of the students and their excellent achievements and thank all the staff for their hard work in supporting them on their journey with us, and parents and carers for their invaluable support as well. We look forward to hearing about the students’ next steps in their future careers.”

Ms Dunton, Head of Sixth Form, said, “We are delighted for all of our students who have achieved amazing grades and are now able to go on to take up places at universities and apprenticeship providers. This was their first experience of sitting external exams as their GCSEs were cancelled due to the pandemic so they should be really proud of themselves for what they have achieved over the last two years. We wish them every success as they take their next steps and look forward to welcoming them back as BSF alumni in the future.”

Here are some responses from our students today: “It’s such a relief that the hard work has paid off!”; “I’m overwhelmed and incredibly happy”; “I’m relieved, happy and excited for the next step.”
