Dear Parents/Carers

Students in Years 9 and 10

Following the Government advice relating to the COVID-19 virus yesterday, we have a large number of staff who are absent due to a variety of reasons. As a result, we have had to make the difficult decision to suspend the timetable for Years 9 and 10 students from Wednesday 18 March – Friday 20 March 2020. A decision on next week will be made as soon as possible.

At the current time, all other year groups should attend lessons as normal tomorrow unless we inform you that the situation has changed. Where a teacher is absent from sixth form lessons, we are unfortunately not currently able to cover these lessons with a member of staff. Work will be set for students to complete where a member of staff is absent, and we currently are open for Year 12 and Year 13 students unless they are unwell or having to self-isolate for any reason.

We appreciate the difficulties this may cause in terms of childcare, but we are unable to provide adequate staff supervision at this time.

Staff will provide work for the students, which can be accessed via the school website and Edulink.

Thank you for your support in these challenging circumstances. We will endeavour to remain open and provide an education for as many students as possible.

Yours faithfully

Dr C Cusick
Head of School
