Fraser Ingram, who left BSF in 2014 having studied A levels in Art, Product Design, History and Geography is a degree student at Oxford Brookes School of Architecture and has received a prize for excellence from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
The Prize is awarded to first year BA students for the best portfolio, by the RIBA Branch which represents more than 600 architects across Oxfordshire. The judges were impressed with Fraser’s project to design a public library and educational space for young carers, integrated with emergency housing. They were particularly impressed with a collection of hand-drawn technical section cuts.
He created an environment for children to escape into the world of books, and used various shapes, lighting and textures to ensure that each has a place where they feel particularly comfortable. Fraser says: ‘The building is designed to remove hierarchy and boundaries, through using curtains or materials to define areas. So people are free to enter and to leave when and where they like’.
