Braintree Sixth Form A Level Results Success!

Many congratulations to students from Braintree Sixth Form who have received their A Level results this morning. Almost every student has completed their studies with grades that will secure a place in higher education if that is what they wish.

The overall pass rate has improved to just under 98%, a considerable achievement with the new reformed A levels. 36% of the grades were A*- B and there are some outstanding achievements at the top end of the grade range as well as some excellent achievements for individuals at every level, whose results will enable them to achieve their hopes and aspirations for their futures. In 2018, all students who wished to go on to higher education and attend university received an offer of a place, and we anticipate that this will be the same this year. The vast majority of the year group will progress to further study in Higher Education but of those who have chosen not to apply, a number will begin apprenticeships, others will begin employment, and others will take a gap year to pursue interests, volunteer, and finalise their plans. We wish all of them every success.

Amongst the highest achievers in this year group are Hannah Bilboe, whose results of A*A*AA mean she has secured a place at Imperial College, London. Daniel Hicks, who achieved A*A*AB, will study Mathematics at the University of Warwick, and Katie Murray, who achieved A*A*A, will also go on to study Mathematics, at the University of Exeter. Alex Deith has achieved his place at the University of Bath to study Physics with his results of A*AAB. Emily Potts gained AABC and will go on to study English Literature at the University of East Anglia. Eleanor Alderman achieved ABC as well as a further A in her EPQ, and will pursue her studies in Psychology at Royal Holloway following her well-deserved unconditional offer.

David Conway, Headteacher, commented that ‘it is a great pleasure to see so many students receiving their grades today and to see so many achieving their goals. The hard work that many have put into this cannot be underestimated and I would like to acknowledge the support of parents and carers as well as the dedication of teachers and support staff in their work with students throughout their time in the sixth form’.

Braintree Sixth Form offers a wide range of A Level and Level 3 vocational courses. Enrolment for Year 12 begins at 10 am on 22 August. For further information, please contact melanie.townsend@notleyhigh.com.
