Some of our Science students are working towards the BA Crest Gold Award as part of their Enrichment programme.

The students have to independently conduct a scientific experiment of their choice and present their findings to gain the certificate at the end of the year. Amongst others, we have Amie investigating what common household objects will put out a fire if there is not a fire extinguisher to hand, including objects used in popular media. She has experimented with shows, a cushion, custard on it, non-Newtonian fluid on it, a homemade fire extinguisher and beer. Nicky and Val have been investigating how effective anti bacterial hand get is on germs so can be seen her taking swabs from surfaces to test.
